ABSTRACT
The purpose of this chapter will be to examine the extent to which rights and duties correlate with each other and to classify duties according to these main conceptual frameworks - perfect/imperfect, positive/negative and moraVlegal. All of these types of duties will be examined in later portions of this book, although with varying degrees of emphasis. Various instruments (both international and nationaVconstitutional) which acknowledge the correlative nature of the rights/duties relationship will be cited. Questions concerning to whom are individual duties owed and a possible hierarchy of duties will also be addressed.
