ABSTRACT
Displays are the primary means by which the pilots’ achieve Situation Awareness, however modern displays are not the passive dials and indicators from the early years of aviation. Many displays are now multifunctional displays with an element of interactivity with elements of ubiquitous computing. Hence they are highly related to the aircraft’s automation. Good flight deck design minimises training requirements and the number of opportunities for design-induced error while supporting crew decision making.
