ABSTRACT
The head-up display or HUD is designed to superimpose imagery over the forward field of view outside the cockpit, so that the pilot can simultaneously view that imagery and the world beyond the cockpit, an information set that we call the 'far domain' (figure 1). As such, the HUD is designed to accomplish three valuable goals (Weintraub and Ensing, 1992; Newman, 1995).
