NATIONAL UNION OF FUNERAL SERVICE OPERATIVES The union recruited workers in the trades allied to the funeral business such as florists, and car hire staff as well as supervisors but it still failed to grow beyond 1400 members. The General Secretary, David Coates took the union into the Furniture, Timber and Allied Trades Union in 1978.
