ABSTRACT

The analytical framework developed by Manners and Whitman will constitute the base of my analysis of impact of the EU candidature on Turkish foreign policy. The comprehensive structure of their analysis in comparison with other approaches to Europeanization is the reason for my choice. The first part of their analysis looks to the foreign policy change with the help of conceptualizations of “adaptation through membership” and “socialization of foreign policy makers.” Although these concepts might be more suitable for the analysis of the changes of the foreign policy in the member countries, the candidate countries also adapt their foreign policies as argued by Featherstone and Kazamias in the previous chapters.
