ABSTRACT

The years following World War II witnessed the transformation of the European continent from historically divided nation states and ideologically divided blocs into an emergent unified economic and political power centre in the global competition. The transformation of the continent occurred in a multi-staged and dialectical process that was the result of an action-reaction relation between the intra-Europe forces and the international context.
