ABSTRACT

The skills identified during task analysis are required to perform the tasks adequately. One of the main purposes of the next step, trainee analysis, is to assess the extent to which these skills are already available in the potential candidate groups. This information is necessary to determine whether or not a training need exists, or the trainee recruitment and selection strategy to be used. The information acquired during trainee analysis is also useful during the subsequent design of the training programme (see Section II), to determine the training strategy.
