Of the performance measures, there remains a requirement for further work on team performance and decision making. The Crew Competencies Questionnaire was found to measure some aspects of good team performance, but more research is needed to produce an instrument with better diagnostic properties that can help the trainer to identify which teamwork skills require improvement. Similarly, a practical method of measuring decision-making processes is not yet available, and this problem is likely to persist until further progress has been made in academic cognitive psychology.
