Stockbrokers and Stock Exchange Brokerage in Naples from the Decade of French Rule to Post–Unification

This paper studies the professional group of stockbrokers operating in Naples in the period before the unification of Italy. It consists of two sections: (a) an outline of the development of the professional group within a legislative framework; (b) an evaluation of the social and economic characteristics ofthe group.
