ABSTRACT

Thisbookdealswithconditionsandaspectsofhightaskloadmanagementby smallgroupsofprofessionalsworkinginhighriskenvironmentssuchasinthe cockpitofanairplane,anoperatingroom,anintensivecareunitandanuclear powerplantcontrolroom.Itfocusesonteaminteraction,especiallyongroup communication,andonthepredictabilityofteamperformanceonthebasisofteam interactionindicators.Thegeneralscientificaimistodescribetheinterrelation betweenconditionsofhightaskloadandthreat,aswellasteammembers' behaviourinsuchsituations.Thereisalsoapracticalaim,whichistoexamineif suggestionsfortheimprovementofexistingbehaviourroutinesand,perhaps,of technicalequipment,canbederivedfromthefindings.
