ABSTRACT

Organizations today need to be able to design and implement flexible and responsive supply chains to maximize their value in dynamic markets. However, many business leaders face a quandary in how to do this, given that so many supply chain strategies are available. Effective supply chain strategies must be aligned with corporate or business unit objectives. The advantage of aligning supply chain strategy to business strategy is that it can increase revenue, reduce costs and improve competitive advantage. The opposite is true for a misaligned operating strategy; it usually results in value destruction through the pursuit of misdirected initiatives.
