ABSTRACT

In the Internet age no information service is an island. One of the prime driving forces for individuals and groups of all sizes - societies, companies, organizations, pressure groups, universities, governments - is communication, even when much of the time this does take place on their own terms. If there is anything that can be discussed, displayed, disseminated, enjoyed, shared - sold! - then information about it can almost be guaranteed to be found somewhere on the Internet, even if this information is just a record pointing to other sources.
