Introduction

Much is known (or assumed) about the Internet but intranets still have a mystique associated with them even though in some ways they can be viewed as simply an extension of the more familiar LAN, or Local Area Network. The intranet as an information management tool should dispel any myths as it explains how the technology has been implemented in a range of situations.
