Thisserviceisofferedthroughtheco-operativeeffortsofthetwo children'shospitals,theGreatOrmondStreetHospitalinLondonandthe AlderCentreattheAlderHeyChildren'sHospitalinLiverpool,thelatter havingpioneeredahelplineanddrop-incentreasaserviceforpeople affectedbythedeathofachild,mainlyintheNorthofEngland,some eightyearsago.Aboutfiveyearsago,GreatOrmondStreet(GOS)decided toofferasimilarserviceintheSouthofEngland.Itsoonbecameclear fromtheresponsethatanational,co-ordinatedservicewasneeded.The informationbelowdescribesthearrangementsattheLondon(GOS)base, butthephilosophyoftheserviceandapproachtotrainingappliesto bothcentres.
