ABSTRACT

When I tell people about an ongoing research project on the innity of God, many of them will respond: ‘Ah, yes, that is about eternity, right?’ en I will usually answer: ‘Yes . . . maybe’. ere seems to be an intuitive grasping of a relation between eternity and

innity. But can it be made explicit? How to conceive of this conceptual relation? at is the question this chapter is devoted to. ere is, however, one problem I face right from the outset: ‘innity’ and ‘eternity’ are both used in several dišerent senses. According to some of them, innity is related to eternity, according to others not, or not in the same way. So my goal can only be a modest one: collecting some kinds of conceptual connections rather than ošering a comprehensive view.
