ABSTRACT

Despite the fact that outsourcing is a relatively new term in management, the phenomenon of outsourcing has existed in various forms since Roman times, notably for tax collection and highway maintenance (Kakabadse and Kakabadse, 2000, 2001). Since its resurgence in the 1980s, outsourcing has become a popular managerial tool (Kakabadse and Kakabadse, 2000, 2001) to the point where global sourcing, commonly referred to as offshore outsourcing, has become an emerging phenomenon.
