ABSTRACT

Globalization has given companies the chance to source products and services from many different parts of the world, leading to the opportunity to reduce supply costs by moving to areas of cheaper labour and materials. However, with globalization has come a growing awareness among customers of how the goods and services they buy are produced. Greater disposable income has meant that people are now able not only to factor price and availability into their buying decision, but to consider the social conditions in which the goods and services are produced and delivered. Many people are uncomfortable with the notion that children working in oppressive conditions in a poor country may have produced their expensive shoes.
