ABSTRACT

This chapter will address these questions in tum. First, it will describe the return to ethics and consider reasons for the revival, such as the decline of traditional sources of moral authority and the ascendancy of liberal democratic ideology and its policies of multiculturalism. Second, this chapter will outline a particular conception of global ethics one which answers the contemporary need in liberal democracies for communication across value frameworks and belief systems and which goes some way to exploring what a substantive global ethics would look like.
