ABSTRACT

The previous two chapters have exclusively addressed the demand for and subsequent production of moderately priced Venetian glass oriented towards the luxury market. In this chapter, activities directly related to the consumption and distribution of the finished products that emerged from Muranese furnaces are considered. While I have separated the topics of demand, production, and distribution for the ease of organization throughout this book, these activities, as they were practised in the Renaissance, were intimately connected to each other through a complex system of interplay and feedback.
