ABSTRACT
The aesthetic can bring on a certain romanticism, but it is also a rival of empiricism. In the absence of theological justification for life - any edict from God on how one should live, or any declaration as to the purpose of life in redemption - one ' s own experience becomes the measure of existence. A philosophy of experience, even the experience of the senses, can find itself in a subjective as much as an objective mood.
