ABSTRACT

Some argue that any response to Huntington's thesis will have to be rooted in multiculturalism. 1 Multiculturalism, however, is not a self-evident value and has to be defended. To some extent it rides on a tide of political correctness in which the Red Cross has to disavow all Christian symbolism and where it is now regarded as inappropriate by some public bodies in traditionally Christian countries to celebrate Christmas. Is multiculturalism simply the triumph of secular humanism? Does it imply abandoning the quest for truth? To what extent may the Church still pursue evangelism in a multicultural society?
