ABSTRACT
Ways of thinking about functionalism can be traced back to Plato and Aristotle. Plato considered function to deal with usage, manufacture, and representation. The first was the most important while the last was not taken seriously (Madanipour 2007). Aristotle tended to emphasize the process of making-of bringing an object into use. The question is: “What does use mean?”
