ABSTRACT
A basic reason for creating buildings and urban designs is to provide the affordances for desired and desirable activities to take place. The perception of what is appropriate depends on the moral order of a society and what is regarded as acceptable within it. As Figure 6.1 shows, the fulfilling of almost everything that we are motivated to achieve involves actions. The diagram also shows that designing to accommodate activities to achieve various ends is a recurring theme in this book.
