Introduction

The set of ideas presented in Part III centre on the conception of planning as a process of societal management. Making a selection from what was a dominating perspective in the planning field in the 1950s and 1960s inevitably means that we have had to omit many significant contributions. Here we present essays which provide clear outlines of positions and developments, many of which have often been referred to in later debate.
