ABSTRACT

Computers, robots, machines, formulae, techniques, tools or processes do not manage risk. Risk is managed by people making judgements, decisions and choices in the face of uncertainty as they see it. Unfortunately different people see the same risk differently, and this has a huge influence on how they behave towards it. Some will feel driven to caution, afraid of what might go wrong. Others might react more positively, hoping to exploit risk to their benefit.
