Inthesecondhalfofthetwentiethcentury,migrationconstitutedoneofthe majorchallengestoEuropeanstatesandsocietiesandoneofthemajor forcesshapingthem.NoconsiderationofEurope'sdevelopmentsincethe endoftheSecondWorldWarcouldbeadequatewithoutgivingdue attentiontothedemographicchanges,culturaltransformations,political andsocialchallengesandeconomicdevelopmentslinkedtoforcedand voluntarymigrations.
