ABSTRACT
The world has not only been the subject of endless discussion and passionate debates for more than a decade, but also of unfounded hope and illusory beliefs. In economic and academic environments and with “alter-globalist” (altermondialistes) militants, many are those who think that borders no longer have a raison d’être, particularly any political frontiers. Their thinking has come to a point where they defend the idea of a new era, termed “global.” This worldview has spread very quickly throughout the media so that it has become a commonly held public opinion.
