ABSTRACT
I have argued in the previous chapter that irrationality may be a sufficient justification for restricting a person's autonomy by virtue of the fact that irrationality itself restricts autonomy by virtue of imposing a limitation in oneself on the sufferer. However, although this may sound fairly obvious when stated simply, the consequences of this have been quite devastating for the treatment of the mentally ill.
