ABSTRACT

What I am about to present is neither a small area of research finally concluded nor a surprising discovery of something especially new. It is, rather, an effort to bring out of the storehouse both old and new with the intent of making a proposal concerning theological teaching and research. I would be more at home making this proposal in a classroom, through an exegesis of texts, in constant conversation over the course of an entire semester. Hence, I must offer an immediate apology for the sometimes cryptic character of remarks made to fit some 20 pages which have taken some 20 years to discover.
