ABSTRACT
Up to this point we’ve considered the institutional and supervisory expectations of the doctoral process and speculated on students’ motivations for doctoral study. In this chapter we present an essential model of how the supervisor can ensure that the student can get down to the business of engagement with doctoral scholarship as soon as possible.
