ABSTRACT

While researchers must acknowledge that they do not know the precise results of a research project because they have not yet done the research, they do know at the outset that they aim to have an answer to a number of different questions, many of which are formulated at the very beginning. They may not have a full vision for the project, but they will have an emergent vision and a reasonably clear set of values. The same can be said for the supervisor, who will know that at the beginning of a research project it’s not only possible, but imperative to lay out the parameters of the project.
