ABSTRACT

As we made clear in Chapter 2, by studying our mistakes, reflecting on them and discussing them, we can increase the effectiveness of our learning. We identified fear as one of the biggest blocks to

learning from our mistakes. Owning up to and sharing our mistakes is threatening and can make us feel anxious, which we naturally try to avoid. Mistakes are threatening to us because we see them as negative and associate them with failure. The language we use to describe mistakes is also negative.
