ABSTRACT

The component parts of this activity can be used in a variety of personal and professional situations.

Assertiveness involves knowing who you are, what you want and being able to express this in a clear and appropriate manner. Assertiveness is also a two-way process: an assertive person has a responsibility for ensuring that the other party has heard and understood what is being said to them. This activity focuses on helping others to be more assertive rather than on how an individual can personally become more assertive. It can be used as part of a wider development programme or set as an individual exercise in a personal coaching session.
