ABSTRACT
Information resources have a life cycle similar to that of other resources. The life cycle comprises five phases: planning, acquisition, maintenance, exploitation and retirement (see Figure 28.1). The information service has a responsibility for ensuring that all information, regardless of source or format, is subject to a managed life cycle.
