ABSTRACT

A selection of theological texts Scotus had a genius for original and subtle philosophical analysis. The motive behind his philosophical method was certainly his faith; his precise semantical, logical and philosophical distinctions and innovations serve a theological enterprise. Ultimately, Scotus' thought is not moved by a love for the abstract or technical as such, but a high level of abstraction and technicality is needed for a precise conceptual vindication of that which moves his thought more than anything else: the love of God.
