ABSTRACT
Having reached the end of an incomplete and selective historical survey of thought on the question of the rational grounds for faith, the next step is to address the philosophical issues that this survey has revealed as being crucial for a resolution of the question. The first issue that needs to be addressed is one that surfaced in the discussion of Aquinas; it is the question of whether knowledge is the result of the exercise of intellectual virtues. I will maintain that it is.
