ABSTRACT

This chapter provides a brief description of the existing rehabilitation policies and provisions for disabled people in Jordan and their historical development. Particular focus is given to the way those interviewed in this study viewed these policies and provisions. The Chapter is divided into three sections. The first section provides introductory information on Jordan, with a focus on disability in terms of prevalence and definitions. It also reviews the history of rehabilitation policies in the country. The second part explores current disability legislation with a focus on economic policies aimed at disabled people. A broad review of the services, facilities, and support resources available to disabled people comprises the third section ofthis chapter.
