ABSTRACT

Attribution ofthe probable causes of air accidents to 'Human Error' is quite high-depending upon the source, the numbers are 75 %or more. If one were to include in that number, the human error of aircraft construction workers and maintenance personnel, the percentage would be even higher. Since the attribution of air accidents to human error in the cockpit is so high, it is incumbent upon everyone involved in the aviation community to actively consider the wide variety of human factors issues that exist in the cockpit today. In addition, it is important to consider how those factors are likely to affect the cockpits of the future.
