For these reasons, establishing sustainability objectives and strategies for all of these resources is essential in establishing the long-term viability of the human race.
Much best practice is already emerging in the areas of forest protection, reforestation, reclaiming of deserts and protection of the diversity of species. The challenge is to globalise these best practices to ensure they are implemented in a coordinated and consistent manner – whilst working to stop further destruction of the existing, finite resources.
