The poverty economy: Because of the increases in food costs, the ability of lowincome people to afford basic food items is reduced, thus increasing the prevalence of extreme poverty.1
Achieving a sustainable world, as we have seen, is dependent on a number of key areas:
Understanding: An effective understanding of the Global Challenges and their interconnectivities and the costs required to address them. Effective planning: A global, coordinated plan on how these challenges can be addressed – with clear objectives, targets, timelines and budgets. Effective implementation: Effective and cooperative global implementation. Effective financing: However, none of this will be effective without effective financing to address these challenges.
