ABSTRACT

The purpose of this chapter is to outline the key factors relating to personnel selection which must be considered by any client organisation embarking on a design project. This requires an understanding not only of the professionals outside the client organisation, but also of the professionals who may be appointed from within to complete the design team. This chapter therefore aims to illustrate common areas of business practice and concern shared by clients and designers to help overcome the cultural and operational professional differences that may otherwise lead to conflict.
