ABSTRACT

Given the scope and originality of Anne van Aaken's paper, it has to remain largely suggestive and by no means exhaustive. Its aim is to open new vistas rather than to present a clear-cut model of the political process. And it does so very well. Since I am sympathetic to van Aaken's general approach, I will not offer much in terms of differing judgements. Instead, I suggest additional theories that might strengthen her concept of Deliberative Institutional Economics. I use two simple diagrams to illustrate some of van Aaken's arguments and my own comments.
