That constitutes a serious deficiency in economic understanding, though. Much of what goes on in actual social bargaining does indeed concern the negotiation
and renegotiation of beliefs. That is what judges and juries are supposed to be arguing about, for example; that is what fact-finding commissions of inquiry are supposed to be arguing about; and that is at least part of what political parties are arguing about, in offering their rival election manifestos.
