ABSTRACT

For Deleuze and Guattari, the only means of reply is to study the composition and intensity of the lines traversing the cosmos from one moment to the next – lines of molarity and lines of flight. As Deleuze and Guattari urge, the first step involves engaging with the plane of consistency. Playing with the idea of flows, speeds and intensities in order to escape the image of thought which governs what it is possible and not possible to do and say with respect to 'the environment'. The great strength of a schizoanalytic view of environmental law/regulation is that it requires each body to consider the way it invites or participates in its own reactive state of affairs. Environmental regulation is and always has been about monitoring and controlling the flows, speeds and intensities of matter and energy which pass through and across particular kinds of bodies.
