ABSTRACT
For Bosnia to succeed as a viable, self-sustaining state, it must consciously ameliorate the racism, inequality, and discrimination that are the profound consequences of ethnic cleansing and genocide. One necessary step in this process is to restore the value of equality among groups and between individuals. Yet, when brutal crimes against human dignity have been perpetrated, ostensibly based upon nothing more than ethnic identity, of what use is the notion of equality?
