ABSTRACT

One promising approach is to view the improvement of natural decision making as a kind of cognitive design problem which concerns how decision making should be designed to achieve a desired performance. We argue that the improvement of natural decision making should be considered as a form of cognitive engineering. At base, cognitive engineering is distinguished by its commitment to formulating then solving cognitive design problems. It is in the process of formulating and solving cognitive design problems that we might seek a contribution of models of natural decision making.
