ABSTRACT
Subject rights are set out in Part II of the Data Protection Act 1998 (the Act), sections 7
to 15. Since October 2001 all the subject rights have been in force, although subject
access to certain limited paper files can still benefit from the exemption provided by
the second transitional period. As this exemption is restricted to information held on
paper subject to processing already underway as at 24 October 1998 and to personal
data processed for certain historical research purposes only, it is not dealt with in this
book.
