ABSTRACT
Crime and the police, especially the Kriminalpoli^ei and its detectives, became popular topics in the media in Germany during the Weimar Republic years. Thrilling homicide cases excited the readers of the newspapers and made the detectives who handled prominent homicide cases public figures. Many detectives started writing themselves, taking their readers into the tracks of criminals.1
