ABSTRACT
The first article in the Professional Forum by Janet E. Helms examines the development of racial consciousness. The model proposed separate stagewise processes for Blacks and Whites. Hypothesized counseling predisposi tions for each of these stages are formulated with implica tions for same and cross-race dyads. Suggestions for future research are offered as well as counseling and training recommendations.
