An RMA occurs when "The application of new technologies combines with innovative operational concepts and organisational adaptations in a way that fundamentally alters the character of conflict. lt does so by producing a dramatic increase - often an order of magnitude or greater-in the combat potential and military effectiveness." They are often associated with broader political, social, economic, and scientific revolutions.
